The author of these blog posts is a lawyer by day and fiction writer by night.

Hero v. Antihero

Standard

Wrote some more on my new story last night, Surfer Bride.  I use the ywriter  software-  Not to actually write in but to set up my characters, locations, etc.   After I type the day’s work in my regular word processing program, I cut and paste into the chapters and scenes in the ywriter.  This   program keeps your daily word count, your goal word count. how many more words a day you have to type to get to the goal AND it tells you how many times you’ve used a word.  I highly recommend it.  AND the best part is that is is FREE!  Check it out      http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter5.html      Remember, though, write in your word processing program and then cut and paste- then you have 2 copies in case one goes wonky on you.

Here are pictures of  the inspiration my hero and anti hero for this story-  Which will be the groom?  A choice of Marks- hmmmmm?

The noise maker

Standard

Little did I know when I got married oh so many years ago, that the man I married was going to be so LOUD.  He has some kind of obsession with things that make noise-  AND he likes to run them when I’m trying to take a nap or sleep in.  Today was not only the lawn mower but the weed eater.  I laid down at 3:00 and at 3:20, rhummm rhummm rhummm- outside my bedroom window. Needless to say, no nap for moi.  AND he says he still has to run the leaf blower.  I agree with #2 son- leaf blowers are a waste- all they do is move stuff from one place to another-  AND the ALL IMPORTANT thing for the spouse- THEY MAKE NOISE!!!!!

Perhaps I should move to the beach- no grass, no leaves.  Hmmm- nope, he’d still have the boat to make noise with. Alas.

gonna reactivate this old blog

Standard

I’m thinking I’m gonna start blogging here again. My nom de plume is gonna retire for a while (take a sabbitical, so to speak) so I’m gonna go back to the real name. Look for some new stuff here in the next days. Going to Romancemama’s tonight for some girl time – should be good for laughs. Maybe my headache from the day’s dramas will go away.

Singing "Sherry Baby" maybe?

See how much fun she can be??? On second thought, maybe the headache won’t go away.  LOL!

Decisions

Standard

Trying to decide whether or not to keep this blog going.  I have a group blog as well as a blog under my pen name and it is becoming more difficult to keep them all going.   Check out my pen name’s blog.   http://jillianchantal.wordpress.com/

mourning doves

outside my office window.  They really do sound so sad.  They aren’t- or shouldn’t be as they are building nests for the little ones.  They should be happy at the imminent blessed events.   We had one couple last year that had two different sets of babies. Made a mess on my porch for sure with all the baby poop.  The interesting thing was that the mother sat as still as a statue for a month or more while the babies were in the shell.  I was amazed at her stamina.   And no cramped limbs, to boot! At least I didn’t hear her complain.

Feeling bad

Standard

Been sick and no motivation to update the blog.   I’ve been working hard on the latest novel and now that its done, I may knock out a short story or two.  While I wait for the inspiration for the next full length story.   IF I ever get to feeling like myself again, that is.  I’m counting the minutes til I can sleep.  For a long time.

Changed my theme

Standard

I decided to change the theme of the background to this blog.  The other one seemed to be too popular. Lots of bloggers using it.  I liked it a lot but it was time to mix it up a bit.

Had a hearing today in my real life role of attorney.  I have to say that the judge surprised me.  I had filed a motion saying the judge made some errors. I figured I’d lose my head.  He’d yell at me and my head would fall off and roll out his chamber door and go down the stairs. Thump, thump, thump.

Anyway, to my shock, he agreed with me on the two things I said he erred in.  So, then, it was a matter of holding myself in the chair and not falling onto the floor in shock.   In the grand scheme of things, it didn’t make a bit of difference but I was glad to see him “man up.”

Saturday mornings

Standard

I love Saturday mornings.  I get the luxury of lounging about for a while.  Not something that happens a lot in my life.  I usually take the time to do five crossword puzzles, read the horoscope, finish my post for my group blog if I haven’t already done it and saved it, and then its time for the shower.  As I write this, I am still in my robe and it is 8:45 a.m.    Nice, leisurely morning.

Things will change, though as I have to run lots of errands today.  And I am close to finishing the first draft of my latest manuscript and while I’m excited about that and plan to get it done today if at all possible, I then have the dreaded edits to work on.  Hate that part.  Alas, must head to the shower.

February 25

Standard

Not much to report other than I am chasing 40,000 words on my WIP.  It has thrown me several curve balls but I am enjoying the ride.  I will be pitching it under my pen name because of the content.  Wouldn’t do for my clients to know about my romantic side.  Gotta be the tough lawyer for them.
