My Must-Sing-Aloud Songs

Standard

MICK!

Mick Jagger cor 01

Anything by the Rolling Stones MUST be sung aloud. My son says most of their lyrics are repetitive but I think that’s why they are so fun to sing out loud. It’s mindless and fun. AND “Hey, you, get off of my cloud!” I’ll sing in my awful voice that makes small children weep if I want to- “you can’t always get what you want” and make me shut up.

My Childhood Television Idol

Standard

The Monkees show poster

I loved Peter Tork of the Monkees. He was just so cute and was the funniest of the group. All my friends were into Davy Jones but I adored Peter.

I saw them in a reunion concert in my late 20s and Peter had held up the best of them all. He was still very handsome.

Justin Abdelkader’s Stanley Cup

LORD STANLEY”S CUP

I love hockey and follow the Stanley Cup race and playoffs. I watch on television as I live in North West Florida and we have no NHL team here. One of my friends asked me once how I could follow the puck on tv as it moves too fast for him. Don’t understand that at all. I think you can follow it if you want to bad enough.

Technology’s Impact on Families

Standard

FACEBOOK? Is it Taking the Place of Real Faces?

Facebook

Facebook has really affected families, I believe- both in a good way and a bad way. I know I’m more up to date on my far flung relatives than I ever have been. It’s nice to be able to jot them a quick note and see what’s up with them and their kids.

The downside, I think, is I sometimes see people who are either in the same house or across the street from each other posting to each other’s wall. That seems inane and isolating- Are we not talking to each other in real life in the same house or town?

On Being in the Spotlight

Standard

Prima Ballerina

I’ve been on stage in many capacities. I was a dancer for years. Ballet was my love but I was much better at jazz and tap since I’m not the most graceful person on the planet. I had delusions that I was as suave as any prima ballerina but I really was more of a “jazz hands” kind of girl than a lovely “en pointe” beauty (kind of like this photo here- doesn’t she look like she’d be better off in jazz? Note the bent legs and bad back  posture).

I’ve also been on stage playing in an orchestra- violin.

Been on stage as Dorothy in a toga in a production of “The Wizard of Oz” in a competition- for a district wide Latin classes event- in high school- think, “There’s no place like Rome” and “Leones, et tigres, et Orsi, oh my.”

And lastly, as a lawyer speaking at seminars. So, I run the gamut here.

A Fictional Character I’d Like to Hang Out With

Standard

Hammock

Hanging in a Hammock with a Jane Austen character

If I could bring one fictional character to life for a day it would have to be Colonel Brandon from Sense and Sensibility. He was such a gentle soul and deserved the happiness he finally found at the end of the book.

We’d spend the day under the trees with him reading the sonnets of Shakespeare as we hung out in a hammock.

Something I’d never do in real life- Break the Law

Great Lakes – Eliot Ness

I would love to travel back to 1920 in the era of the speakeasy. I’d like the adventure of hanging out in such an environment. I’d like to meet Eliot Ness and flirt with him just cause he must have been an awesome lawman! Maybe even coax him to have an illegal swig of some whiskey!

My Greatest Accomplishment of 2010

Standard

My accomplishment: I sold three novels to two different publishers under my pseudonym. I had already sold quite a few short stories but selling the novels was BIG for me. I had validation that I can write. Someone besides my family and friends liked my work. That was a big deal to me. One of the books is already out and the other two will be out by July 2011- one releases in April and one in July.

An Album I’ll Always Love

Standard

WHO ARE YOU?

I know a Greatest Hits album is kind of a cop out but the rest of my life is a long time so I’d want to pick the Greatest Hits so I could get all my favorites, not just the one or two favs on each separate album. So, I would choose “The Who” Greatest Hits. The Who is a very ecelctic band and I wouldn’t be bored with them at all.
