This lady’s dog was found while she was being interviewed. It’s a small thing but a message of hope for sure.

Someone Needs a Geography Lesson

Standard

My father and I have this weird tradition of sharing typos we see in our local paper (and there are a lot) as well as crazy mistakes on television. Today he sent me this:

“Heard from Congressman this am in regard to Keystone pipeline …if we can build a pipeline through Antarctica when it’s cold and frozen up there, we can safely build one in Kansas… ”

Hold the horses, Nellie! Antarctica is UP? When did that happen? Did I miss a memo?

Moral of the story: Even if you’re lucky enough to get elected, please, please keep your mouth shut if you have no idea what you’re saying.

Working on a Young Adult Novel

Standard

I’ve bitten the bullet and started a young adult novel. I’m only about 1600 words in and so far, I’m loving it. I’m not entirely sure what the plot is or how it will pan out but it’s been a wonderful couple of days of a bit of writing here and there on it.

I sometimes use my writing to work thorough angst I’ve had in my life and this little story started as one of those kinds of excercises. It has now taken on a life of its own as my stories are prone to do. I love it.

My working title is Here There be Witches. It cracks me up and I guess that’s a good thing, right?

Crazy Day

Standard

Today, Tropical storm Isaac is supposed to make land fall. We are home since we don’t want to be caught out in it even though we are only getting the outer part of the storm. It’s crazy though because it’s not your typical tropical storm. We are having the dark, rainy, windy bands of bad weather but then, miraculously, we are then having nice, beautiful blue skies and sun as well. It seems to be a bi-polar storm. Let’s hope the bad bands stay few and far between.

Here’s hoping all my friends to the west of me stay safe and keep their power!!
