My grandfather was a hobbyist wood worker and I have several pieces of furniture he made. Some of them, he made specifically for me such as my roll top desk when I was about 10, my curio cabinet from my early 20s and the hooded cradle he made when I was pregnant with my first son. The oldest piece I have is a cedar chest he made before I was ever born. I’m not even sure my father was born when this was made. I treasure all the items he made for me as well as thay cedar chest. I also have a couple of small items made by my great grandfather, his father. I’m not sure of the age of those things.

DSCN0862-The Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA
I was aboard the Queen Mary docked in Long Beach, California. I’m writing a novel set onboard in 1937 and I purchased several books, post card packets and other items to use in my research. I also treated myself to a beautiful white scarf in the couture shop on board and a lovely brooch in the Scottish store. A productive and fun spree.
My High School Reunion
I have been. Once. I had nothing in common anymore with my class members and I was on the committee to plan the 20th and ended up being the one to sign all the contracts. I got into a tiff with one of the other committee members that didn’t want to pay the DJ as she didn’t get the songs she wanted played. She was the one on the reunion bank account and wanted me to pay the bill myself. I had to force the issue (Never did figure out if she wanted to keep the excess money, if any). So, when it was time to plan the next one, I was asked to help again, I said, not only no, but hell, no. So, short answer, NOPE!!
The Best Photo I’ve Taken
An Author I Admire
It would have to be Dean Koontz. he’s an amazing, prolific writer and has such wonderful dialogue. He’s witty and I love his books. His books aways have a spiritual element and I love that, too.
Sunrise vs. Sunset
I love sunset better than sunrise but I get to see some beautiful sunrises as I drive to Tallahassee once a month for court. I have to leave home around five am and it’s interesting to see what time the sun comes up- it varies based on the time of year. It’s awesome most of the time.
My Worst Prom Date
It was a prom. My parents were out of town. The guy I went with was a former boyfriend but we’d broken up when I found out he went out with another girl when I was on vacation in California. We already had prom plans, so we went anyway. It was awkward as he wanted to rekindle the relationship and I didn’t. When he took me home, he insisted on waiting until my parents opened the door. I’d forgotten my key and knew there was no one home and the parents would not be coming to the door. I FINALLY got him to leave. I knew the front window lock was broken and I could climb in that way. The windows were the same length as the door but were split paned, so I had to get on my knees to crawl in. So, here I was with my butt in the air, in a formal gown, crawling in the window and just KNOWING he was going to just drive around the block and come back. In retrospect, when I think about my frantic, speedy crawl through that window, all the while worried that he’d come back and find my parents gone and try to take advantage of that situation, I crack up. What a sight that would have been for him to see.
My First Album
My first Album I bought with my own money was an Osmond Brothers Album- I can’t remember the name of the Album but it was the one with “One Bad Apple” on it. I lived in Virginia and bought it at the grand opening of a Zayre’s store in Fredericksburg. It was under five dollars since my allowance at the time was $5.00 a week.
My Favorite Place to Drive
My Volvo C70 Convertible On Palomar Mountain This AfternoonIf I Were President
I would look much older than I am. I would’ve gone almost completely grey in my first year or so in office. The burdens of the office are much more intense than the benefits, in my opinion. Who wants to have the weight of the world on their shoulders and get old before you need to? Not me! I’ll pass.
