Three Countries I’d Like to Visit

Standard

St Basil Cathedral

I would like to visit Russia, The Holy Land, and Egypt- the history and the  architecture of those places fascinate me.  I’ll probably make it to Russia but the other two places scare me due to the conflicts there. My luck, I’d get blown up by a bomb- I think I can avoid the bad guys in Russia. Maybe.

A Romance Novel in Disguise as a Holiday Movie

Love, love. love this one- who wouldn’t? Some of the best actors/singers of the era and Danny Kaye is just a hoot. He’s such fun! I watch this over and over. In fact, when VHS first came on the scene and videos were $100.00, this is the first one I ever bought (or I talked my mom into buying!)- she got the display copy and it was half price or she’d have never gotten it for me!

This story is a typical romance cliche, but I love it. Boy meets girl, boy wins girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back!!

AND I always get chills when the general comes in at the end and the men salute him.

Why I’m Digital

Standard

Sony Book Reader PRS-600 Touch Edition

I am already digital- Absolutely! I have an e-reader- being a writer who is published both under her real name (print and digital) and a pseudonym (digitally)- I would be an idiot not to have one. Trying to market e-books w/o a reader seems almost criminal, doesn’t it?

I have the Sony Touch. I like it except I wish it was wireless- that books could be uploaded w/o the usb cord. AND the battery life is not as long as I’d like since you can’t read while it is charging.

If I Could Only Eat One Meal the Rest of My Life

Standard

Pot on the Stove

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would have to be chicken and dumplings. I love, love, love them. A pot of chicken and dumplings is a comfort food that reminds me of my maternal grandmother. She always made sure she had some on the stove when I came to visit. She never said she loved me, but the dumplings were the proof that she did. She was an excellent country cook. Just yummy!!

HELP!

picture from Zen Habits

Right now, I have too much work to do. There’s not enough hours in the day to get it all done. Some of it is just inane, busy work but it has to be done and done by me. Not by staff.  Me. Rules, rules, rules. I’m buried under paper and there’s no end in sight. Can one drown on 20# paper?

My Favorite Childhood Movie

Standard

I loved this movie as a little kid. Back in the days before VCRs, we could only see these Disney films at the theater. When I was 16, the movie came back to the theater and my friend and I searched high and low for a kid to take with us as we were too cool at 16 to go to a kid movie without pretending we had to take a kid!

Turkey Time

Standard

My mother’s turkey gravy- best on Earth

Definitely love it- except it has to be covered in gravy as otherwise it’s too dry. I’m not a fan of dry meat and sometimes a large bird is dry because it takes so long to cook it.

As to processed turkey- blech, no. Ugh.

5 Things I’m Looking Forward to This Week

Standard

Here’s to a Great Week

Deviled eggs, my mother’s homemade gravy, the beauty of the full moon, 2 extra days off work, and the release of my first novel on Tuesday (written under my pseudonym).
All in all, a red letter week.

I Can’t Help It: My Celeb Crush

Standard

Alan Rickman. He’s so versatile. He totally becomes his characters. He can do evil and he can do the lead. He has some great movies that are not in the mainstream but they are all awesome. Check out “Close My Eyes”, “Dark Harbor,” and “An Awfully Big Adventure” for a few.

He’s funny in interviews and he’s just one sexy guy-
