Today is the 30th anniversary of John Lennon’s death. I read an article where he was interviewed 3 days before his death where he said he didn’t want to be known as a dead hero like Sid Vicious and James Dean. How horribly prosaic of him.  I always thought the Ballad of John and Oko was kind of an omen as well where he says, “they’re gonna crucify me” – and he was- in a way.  Interesting that he must have known he wouldn’t die of old age in his bed.
