I love to support Toys for Tots. Every year, my kids and I would go and shop for children less fortunate than them. My youngest is working here in our hometown and we still donate every year. I was pleased to hear that one of my publishers was putting together a horror/fantasy anthology to benefit this charity and I wanted to participate.
My husband inadvertently gave me the idea for a story when he accidentally poked his eye on a bamboo plant putting it in the floorboard of the car. When he went to the eye doctor, she said the plant had scratched his cornea and gave him a fungus.
Well, it was off to the races with my imagination. What if someone got a fungus in his eye and it grew and grew into a mushroom crawling out on his face??? And what if someone decided to try to rescue him and was given seemingly impossible tasks to do so? And what if all we’d ever believed about magical creatures was turned upside down?
It was a super fun story to write and I can’t wait for it to be out in the world.
To hold you over until Sept, here’s a fungus/mushroom growing on an oak tree in my yard. Almost like it was hanging out to be part of the story, right? 🙂

It’s 1938. Europe is on the brink of war as the madman Adolph Hitler is amassing an army to conquer the continent. The Führer is also in negotiations with Ambrose Schumacher, leader of a vampire coven, to recruit super-soldier vampires to fight for Germany. If he’s successful, Europe is lost.
Declan Cavanagh, a member of a secret society of vampire hunters, is on a mission to stop this evil alliance.
In his pursuit, Declan will be faced with many choices—some hard and some easy—and one even heartbreaking, but he knows he must persevere in order to try to bring some normalcy to a world caught up in chaos.
And if, along the way, he gets distracted by a number of attractive women, well, it’s just part of the job…or is it?

While her abilities grow stronger, her feelings for Bates begin to interfere with the MIND team’s mission putting everyone at risk. Secrets from her past threaten the present and future, forcing Lexa to decide who she is and where she belongs.
When a powerful, ancient enemy lays claim to the Earth and brings his judgment upon the population, Bates, Lexa, and the entire MIND team must do whatever it takes to save the human race before the reckoning is complete.

Here’s a poster I made for Rex, the Ex and the Hex. It comes out July 9 and it is such a fun story. If I do say so myself. I at least at my editor laughing. LOL
I have a new book coming out July 8, 2016. It’s called Rex, the Ex and the Hex from CHBB Publishing and it is such a fun story, I can’t wait for it to be available. There’s voodoo, witch doctors, a tarot card reader and even a haruspex. There’s a murder trial and even a laundromat. When did you last read a book with a scene in a muggy, steamy laundromat?
The story takes place in parts of south Alabama, Pensacola and even New Orleans. Here’s the awesome cover made by Rue Volley.
